Attachment Informed Psychotherapy: An Interactive Online Workshop

Thank you for your interest in taking my Attachment Informed Psychotherapy online / interactive workshop. In this workshop you will learn about the integration of John Bowlby's attachment theory into the practice of psychotherapy. This workshop is interactive in that you will have the opportunity to ask me questions via email as you progress through the topics.

This workshop will help clinicians integrate attachment theory and neuroscience research into their clinical practice. We will explore early conceptualizations of attachment theory and how it has been expanded upon by developmental and social psychologists; the neuro-biological aspects of attachment and how this knowledge can help pinpoint specific capacities that clinician can focus their attention; the psychotherapist-patient relationship as an attachment relationship, and the parallels to infant parent relationship and how attachment theory can help us develop a deeper understanding of and facilitating the therapeutic alliance. We will discuss ways of assessing attachment status through the use of interview techniques and self-report measures. With this groundwork, we will discuss the application of this theory to clinical practice. Since one way of conceptualizing attachment theory is about affect regulation, we will discuss the latest findings in the affective neurosciences and their application to psychotherapy. Participants will receive references to many online attachment theory resources. Specific case material will also be discussed.

Currently, this workshop is approved for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists (SON011-0023-000). To receive credit you will need to read the material, ask any questions via email and then compete the quiz and evaluation. When I receive your quiz/evaluation you will receive a link to a certificate of completion (Which you should print out and keep for your records).
